Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing a sealing material by which method foaming from the sealing material is suppressed in spite of sealing of a device in a vacuum and the degradation in the airtightness of the device, the degradation in the sealing strength of the sealed sections, etc., are averted.

The method for manufacturing the powdery sealing material P composed of the powder glass manufactured by crushing regulated to attain a softening point of 200 to 900°C as a chief material has a process step of heating the powder glass to a maximum temperature of 100°C to a temperature of (the glass softening point of the powder glass - 30°C) in a refractory vessel 20 by using a vacuum reduced pressure heating furnace 10 and a process step of holding the powder glass at the prescribed temperature for the prescribed time under a reduced pressure of ≤104 Pa.
