Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing a steel ingot for a roll that can eliminate freckled segregation, and to provide a steel ingot for a roll from which freckled segregation is eliminated.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a steel ingot for a roll manufactures a steel ingot for a roll while forming a melting pool by melting a consumable electrode with an electroslag melting method. A pool boundary surface gradient G obtained from the formula 1: G=0.349×Vc+0.0036×f+0.0014×D-1.62...(1) satisfies 0.65 or less, where G represents a pool boundary surface gradient when the melting pool is viewed at a longitudinal section, Vc (mm/min) represents a melting speed of the consumable electrode, f (Hz) represents a frequency of a current to be applied to the consumable electrode and D (mm) represents a mold diameter of the steel ingot for a roll.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
