Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a UOE steel tube having excellent formability for stabilizing the formability during the expansion without devising the forming condition, the shape of a seam-weld portion or the composition of a base metal.
SOLUTION: In a UOE steel tube manufacturing method in which a steel plate is successively subjected to C-forming, U-forming and O-forming, end portions of the steel plate are seam-welded to each other, and a tube is expanded, at least a seam-weld toe portion before the expansion is subjected to peening by the ultrasonic vibration. The peening by the ultrasonic vibration is preferably performed at a temperature below 400°C or at room temperature.
