Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a wavelength selective switch, in which a position and an orientation of a light deflecting element can be adjusted by use of a simple measurement system, and a light deflecting element having a special structure for adjusting is unnecessary.SOLUTION: A first phase modulation pattern having periodically varied phase modulation amounts in a first direction D1 is presented in a first region 17g of a phase modulation element 17; a third phase modulation pattern having periodically varied phase modulation amounts in a second direction D2 is presented in a second region 17h of the phase modulation element 17; and under the above described conditions, light is input from one optical input/output port; intensities of light reaching two or more optical input/output ports arranged in the first direction among a plurality of input/output ports, and intensities of light reaching two or more optical input/output ports arranged in the second direction among the plurality of input/output ports are measured; and a setting angle of the phase modulation element 17 is adjusted based on the intensities of light.
