Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can measure a positional deviation amount between head modules at a low cost and with a high accuracy.SOLUTION: In a method for a positional deviation amount, dot patterns are recorded on a recording medium at predetermined intervals in a second direction by a first and a second head modules respectively while relatively moving a recording head and the recording medium in the second direction. The dot patterns are optically read, and a density profile, which indicates density changes of a read image of the dot patterns in the second direction, is calculated. Waveform repetition periods, which are corresponding to respective dot patterns in the density profile, are calculated, and data concerning the density profile is integration-averaged at every period thereby calculating an integrated density profile 56A. Waveform peak positions, which are corresponding to respective dot patterns in the integrated density profile, are determined, and a positional deviation amount is calculated on the basis of each peak position.
