To efficiently and quantitatively measure clearance dimension between a gauge and addendums, and to inspect the goodness/badness of the dimension between the addendums at diagonal positions.
A workpiece W is set outside the gauge 1 by positioning the center and circumferential relative positions, then air is made to flow to air holes 11 disposed in the gauge 1 in response to each tooth (c) of the work piece W, a air flow rate flowing out of two air holes whose outlets are positioned at the center of the addendums is measured, and it is compared with the relation between a predetermined air flow rate and the clearance to determine the goodness/badness of the dimension between the addendums of teeth (c) disposed at the diagonal positions of the workpiece.
