PURPOSE: To measure concentration of suspended substance in mud slurry-separated liquid stably, accurately and automatically, by a method wherein processes of detection water introduction in a measuring tank, concentration measurement, detection water exhausting and detector washing are controlled sequentially.
CONSTITUTION: If an electromagnetic valve 5 is closed and detection water for measurement is introduced from a main pipe 1 of mud slurry-separated liqui to a measuring tank 7, a stirring mechanism 12 is operated in response to sequence signal from a sequencer 15 and concentration of suspended substance is detected by a detector 11. After finishing the measurement for a given time, the electromagnetic valve 5 is opened and operation of the stirring mechanism is stopped and detection water is exhausted out of an exhaust pipe 16. Then an electromagnetic valve 13 is opened, pressurized washing liquid is sprayed from a tip nozzle 14a a washing mechanism 14 towards a detecting end 11a thereby suspended substance is washed away. Such processes are controlled sequentially by a sequencer 15. Thereby concentration of suspended substance in slurry-separated liquid can be measured automatically, although it was difficult in the conventional manner.
