To accurately measure capability of a PAC system during operation without stopping operation of the PAC system and without requiring a large scale equipment.
The cooling capacity of the system formed by connecting an indoor unit provided with a capacity control compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger to an indoor unit provided with an indoor heat exchanger through a refrigerant pipe is measured as follows: A liquid feeding pipe feeding a refrigerant from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit is heated or cooled with a predetermined amount of heat. The cooling capacity is estimated based on a change in operation condition of the compressor of the outdoor unit in response thereto, that is, data on changes in power (power consumption), condensation pressure and evaporating pressure. When acquiring the data, an enthalpy difference in thermal dose or the amount of cooling after heating or cooling the liquid feeding pipe is used. When calculating the enthalpy difference, a multiplication coefficient (i) is defined from heat discharge, a refrigerant flow, and a refrigerant condition in a condenser and the heat transfer performance of the condenser relating to the refrigerant flow.
