PURPOSE: To enable sure measurement of the condition in which the raw materials are distributed into a blast furnace by measuring the moving time of the ore layer and coke layer in the furnace with a device for observing the inside of the furnace equipped internally to a blast furnace shaft sonde in the stage of operating the blast furnace and combining the same with the descending speed thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft sonds 4 having an observing port 11 at the top end and is provided internally with a fiberscope 5 is inserted into a blast furnace and the inside of the furnace is taken by a video camera 8. The video thereof is projected on a monitor television 9 and is recorded to a video tape racorder 10. More specifically, the time tc when coke is observed in the furnace and the time to when ore is observed therein are measured. At the same time, the descending speed v=v', s'/s in the measuring position is calculated from the descending speed v' on the surface of the charging raw material corresponding to the measuring position in the radial direction, the sectional area S' of the level of the charging raw material surface and the sectional area S of the shaft sonde level in the furnace and the thickness lc=vtc of the coke layer and the thickness l0=vt0 of the ore layer are determined. The distribution of the coke and ore in the furnace is thus exactly determined.
