Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the thickness of a moving ash in an ash feed layer at a neighboring portion including a flame radiation region beneath a burner by partially controlling the amount of ash fed from an ash feed portion, achieve a feed of ash in coincidence with a melting speed of the ash depending on the distribution of heat received from a burner, and thus attain stable melting of the ash and stable discharge of a molten slag while suppressing the damage at a furnace bottom to a minimum.
SOLUTION: An ash melting furnace comprises an inclined furnace bottom 55, an ash feed portion 53 which is provided at one end side of a furnace body for feeding an ash 50, which is a member to be melted, toward the furnace bottom 55 and is also provided with an ash reservoir 60 having an ash feed port 54 for forming an ash feed layer 59, and a burner 52 for forming a flame radiation region at the surface of the ash feed layer 59 so as to heat and melt the surface. There is further provided an upright three-way gate 10 for dividing the ash feed port 54 into three in the direction of the width. The gate 10 consists of a central gate and a slightly narrower gates at both sides thereof. The individual gates are independent of each other, and is vertically movable in an appropriate degree by means of a separately provided elevating mechanism.
