Title:
METHOD FOR MELTING COLD IRON SOURCE AND MELTING FACILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000065486
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for melting a cold iron source in an extremely high efficiency by preheating the source of next charge without particularly necessity of a unit for conveying to supply the source to a melting chamber, and also provide a melting facility.

This melting facility comprises a melting chamber 2 having an arc generating electrode 7a, a preheating chamber 3 coupled directly to an upper part of the chamber 2, and a temperature raising chamber 4 provided at an opposite side of the chamber 3 via the chamber 2. In this case, the cold iron source 16 in the chamber 2 is melted by an arc while supplying the source 16 to the chamber 3 to hold the state that the source 16 is continuously existed in the chamber 3 and the chamber 2 to melt the source 16 while preheating the source 16 by introducing exhaust gas generated from the chamber 3 and the chamber 2 into the chamber 3. Then, at the time point of storing molten steel of a predetermined amount in the chamber 2, the chamber 2 is inclined to introduce the molten steel to the chamber 4, the steel 13 and the source 16 in the chamber 2 are separated, the steel is heated in the chamber 4 in this state and raised at its temperature, and then the steel 13 is tapped from the chamber 4.
