To provide a method for efficiently melting a filter cake rich in wettability, particularly the filter cake containing bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate as a main component by a compact facility within a short time; and a device therefor.
The device for melting the filter cake is provided with a melting device for melting the filter cake; a melting liquid receiving tank for storing the liquid discharged from the melting device; a means for circulating the liquid of the melting liquid receiving tank to the melting device; and a heating means for heating the circulation liquid. The melting device has further an opening/ closing upper lid for feeding the filter cake and has a bundle of heat exchanger tubes arranged at the inside of the melting device such that the filter cake is not dropped off to a bottom part of the melting device in the solid state but it is dropped off to the bottom part as the melting liquid; and an injection means for injecting the circulation liquid to the cake on the bundle of the heat exchanger tubes. The device for melting the filter cake preferably has a heating means for preventing solidification of the melting liquid at the bottom part of the melting device. The method for melting the filter cake using this device is disclosed.
