To provide a method for molding pottery enabling even an unskilled person to mold clay easily into a complex shape such as a bag or the like.

The method for manufacturing the pottery mold includes a molding process of pasting the clay 30 on a surface of a foamed plastic-made inner mold 10 (11, 12 and 13) to make an outer shape of a molded article 24 (20, 22 and 23), and a volume reduction process of pouring a solvent 32 capable of reducing a volume of the foamed plastic from openings 15, 18 and 19 of the molded article 24. In the case that the foamed plastic is preferably one or more kinds selected from the group composed of foamed polystyrene, foamed polyethylene, foamed polypropylene and foamed polyvinyl chloride. A pattern 14 is preferably given to the position of the surface of the inner mold 11 with which the clay 30 contacts.
