Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable to efficiently produce glycyrrhizin by culturing the root stem cell of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var in an optimal medium under a low temperature condition, etc., and giving a physical stress to the cell.

CONSTITUTION: The cells of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var is cultured in a medium containing an inorganic nutritive element such as NH4NO3, organic nutritive elements such as vitamins, a carbon source such as sucrose and a hormone such as 2,4-D or benzyladenine. A physical stress such as temperature change, light, electric stress, magnetic stress, pressure radiation or gas phase change is given to the cells on the culture. On the change of the temperature the temperature for giving the stress to the cells under a low temperature condition is preferably 0-15°C, and it it especially optimal that the root stem cells of the Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var cultured under an environment of approximately 20-25°C is transplanted to a medium under an environment of preferably 0-5°C, thereby promoting the production of the glycyrrhizin.
