PURPOSE: To timely improve aggravation of peripheral gas flow and burden descent caused by roughened parts on the inner wall surface from upper shaft part to middle shaft part of a blast furnace.

CONSTITUTION: A roughened part and the depth or height on the inner wall surface from the upper shaft part to the middle shaft part of a blast furnace are detected. When this value is ≥50mm, a charging control for changing the raw material charging rate is executed so that the thickness ratio of ore layer to coke layer at the furnace wall or the neighborhood in a furnace top hole at the time of charging the raw material becomes the prescribed value of 1 to 3× average layer ratio, thus the aggravation of peripheral gas flow and burden descent can be reduced.
