Abstract:
To provide a method of operating an internal combustion engine that performs additional heating of an intake air temperature required for an operating state of the engine and more accurate control while reducing impact on fuel economy.
The method of operating the internal combustion engine (100) coupled in a hybrid drive system includes the steps of extracting waste energy from components (108, 110, 112) of an electrical power system of the hybrid drive system, and adjusting the intake air temperature of the internal combustion engine (100) during homogeneous charge compression ignition operation of the internal combustion engine (100) by using the extracted waste energy.
