Abstract:
To provide a method for operating a light irradiation device, capable of solving problems associated with the discoloration of an encapsulant for a light emitting diode, specifically suitable for use in a photoreaction.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for operating a light irradiation device 100 that includes a light source in which a plurality of light emitting diodes 1 are mounted while being sealed with an encapsulant 11, and a light transmissive container 2 covering the light source, the light irradiation device having a gas encapsulation/circulation space 12 formed between the light source and the light transmissive container. When light emitting diodes are turned off, gas in the gas encapsulation/circulation space is switched from inert gas to oxygen-containing gas, and when light emitting diodes are lit again, is switched from the oxygen-containing gas to the inert gas. There are also provided: a photoreaction method using the method for operating a light irradiation device; and a method for manufacturing a lactam using the photoreaction method.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
