PURPOSE: To improve packaging efficiency in a simple structure by a method wherein a bale which is once pressed is placed constantly under an unchangeable optimum condition with a stem being interposed until the time of output after bandaging and moved along a circular track returning to a press station.

CONSTITUTION: A center press is a pressing device with press units I-III arranged in a star shape around thereof, and presses textile goods with a stem when a container is moved to a press station. After the pressing, the circumferential part and the bottom plate of the container are removed from the textile goods (a bale) 8. Then, the bale 8 is moved together with the stem to a packaging station along a circular track and packaged there, and after the bale 8 is bandaged under pressing, the bale 8 is released from the pressure of the stem. On the other hand, the container is transferred to the press station with the circumferential part and the bottom plate thereof being fitted after a cut- sheet of bottom packaging material is applied to the bottom plate.
