Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved polymerization process for the production of an acrylic adhesive.
SOLUTION: This process comprises coating at least one main surface of a web with an applicable free-radical polymerizable mixture, deoxygenating an inert liquid medium, immersing the coated web in the deoxygenated medium, and exposing the immersed web to a radiation having a radiochemical action enough to cause the polymerization of the polymerizable mixture while keeping the medium in an essentially oxygen-free state.
