To provide a preparation method for an oil having a high viscosity index above about 100, more preferably above about 140 by direct treatment of petroleum fractions based on the recovery of fractionated oils according to the viscosity indices and to enable materials at the bottom of a tower containing mainly different components and different viscosity indices to be recovered in addition to the intermediate fraction.
This preparation method for an oil having a high viscosity index comprises a step (a) of reacting a charged raw material or a mixture of a charged raw material and a fraction in a recirculating stream with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst containing a non-zeolite amorphous matrix, a metal or metal compound of group XIII in the periodic table and/or a metal of group VIB, a step (b) of fractionating at least part of the effusion from the step (a) such that a residual oil containing a component having a high viscosity index is separated and a step (c) of fractionating at least part of the residual oil to a fraction of oil having a high viscosity index by thermal diffusion. Furthermore, the oil is separated according to the viscosity index.
