Abstract:

To provide a thumb nail icon preparing method and a thumb nail icon displaying method and a device capable of obtaining information for grasping contents enough to specify an intended file without increasing the size of an icon.

In this thumb nail icon display method by an icon display device equipped with a display device 3, a storage device 4, an input device 5, a memory 8, and a processing device CPU 2 connected to those device for processing file data 11 constituted of various files, the arbitrary part of the file displayed on the display screen of the display device is designated as a range to be thumb- nailed, and the designated thumb nail range is constituted as icon display data as the pattern of the icon, and the constituted icon pattern is displayed on the display screen of the display device.
