PURPOSE: To preserve a biological cell so as to enable the preservation thereof for a long period without deteriorating the freshness of perishables, etc., by applying ultrasonic vibration generated from activated water to the biological cell housed in a space for housing the biological cell.

CONSTITUTION: This method for preserving a biological cell is to store activated water capable of generating ultrasonic vibration in at least one lateral part of a periphery of a space 5 for housing the biological cell, apply the ultrasonic vibration generated from the activated water to the biological cell housed in the space 5 for housing the biological cell and preserve the biological cell. Furthermore, this apparatus for preserving t,he biological cell is provided by installing a nozzle for jetting pressurized water into a gas mixing pipe, a suction port for feeding a gas to the pressurized water jetted from the nozzle and a collision wall with which the pressurized water containing the gas mixed therein collides, forming an apparatus 11 for forming the activated water, forming a storage part 6 for the activated water in at least one lateral part of the periphery of the space 5 for housing the biological cell and connecting the storage part 6 for the activated water to the apparatus 11 for forming the activated water so as to enable the feed of the activated water formed from the apparatus 11 or forming the activated water to the storage part 6 for the activated water.
