Title:
METHOD OF PRESETTING TOOL POSITION IN METAL MACHINING DEVICE AND SETTING JIG USED THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5721250
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To embody a setting jig capable of giving an accurate calibration value rapidly by a method wherein a setting jig capable of turning on a lamp upon contact with the tip of a tool is mounted on a metal machining device at the time of starting the drive for machining, and the tips of tools are sequentially contacted to the jig.

CONSTITUTION: A work rest 13 for mounting a work 14 onto a work fitting translation table 12 is provided on a base 11 of a turret type machine tool. Then, the setting jig 21 is placed on the work 14, respective cutting tools 18 are sequentially lowered and they are stopped at the amount the lamp is turned on. Then, the distance of descent of each cutting tool 18 is determined, and the thus determined length is obtained as the calibration value for the tool 18 under consideration. Since the tools 18 may include drills, boring tools and many other tools which are different in shape and dimensions, the corresponding calibration values are also different from tool to tool. The presetting is completed by inputting the thus obtained calibration values into a driving controller. Thus, a setting jig capable of providing accurate calibration values rapidly can be embodied.
