The method for press drying the material comprises a heating step of press injecting pressurized gas into a sealed space 3 for pressing the material 4 by the plate 1, to enhance a pressure of the space 3 to higher pressure than an atmospheric pressure to enhance a boiling point of water in the space 3 to 100°C or above to heat the material 4 by the plate 1; a pressure lowering step of holding the material 4 in a pressing state by the plate 1 after heating the material 4 in the heating step, lowering the pressure of the space 3, and removing the moisture contained in the material 4; and a discharging step of opening the space 3 after the pressure lowering step and removing the material 4 from the space 3.
