Title:
METHOD FOR PREVENTING CORROSION AND CONTAMINATION OF STEEL STRUCTURE SUNK UNDER SEA WATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61221384
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent both corrosion and contamination effectively and permanently, by spraying copper (alloy) to surface of structure, arranging electrode made of copper (alloy) as anode, and passing electricity between both electrodes intermittently.

CONSTITUTION: Copper or copper alloy is sprayed to shell plate of marine structure such as a ship body 1. The electrodes 2 made of strip shaped copper or copper alloy are attached insulatedly to the part of the body 1 sunk in a sea water 3. DC is passed between both electrodes during navigation to prevent corrosion of the body 1 cathodically, and corrosion preventing effect is improved by sealing. During anchorage, electricity conduction is interrupted, copper ion is dissolved from sprayed film at the body 1 to prevent corrosion thereof cathodically, and adhesion and growth of sea water organism at the body 1, etc. are suppressed.
