To solve a problem that winding becomes nonuniform to generate creases.

In the dye transfer printer, a donorweb having a continuous dye transfer area being printed and longitudinal edge areas on the opposite sides not used for dye print is wound around a tubular spool core under tension in the longitudinal direction. The dye transfer printer wound around the core under tension is heated during print operation and spread thinner than two edge areas. The core can be depressed inward at a part applied with two edge areas and the intermediate part of the core is not deformable. Consequently, winding state of the edge area is identical to the winding state of the transfer area.
