Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 4,5-dicyanoimidazole useful as an intermediate for a medicine in good yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing 4,5-dicyanoimidazole represented by general formula (II) (wherein, R1 is a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group which may have a substituting group, a 3-14C hydrocarbon having an alicyclic skeleton an alkenyl group which may have a substituent, an alkynyl group which may have a substituent, an aryl group which may have a substituent, an aralkyl group which may have a substituent, an allyl group which may have a substituent, a heterocyclic group which may have a substituent or a heterocyclic alkyl group which may have a substituent) is characterized in that a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 is the same group as the above one; and R2 is a 1-8C alkyl group which may have a substituent) is heated and cyclized in an alcohol solvent.
