Abstract:

To provide a method for producing acylpyridines expressed by the formula (3) in a high yield by reacting pyridine carboxylic acids expressed by the formula (1) [wherein, R1 is an alkyl or an aralkyl; (m) is 1-5 integer; and (n) is 0-4 integer, provided that 5≥(m+n)] with carboxylic acids expressed by the formula (2) (wherein, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and each H, an alkyl or an aralkyl).

This method for producing the acylpyridine is provided by using a metal oxide catalyst having ammonia-adsorbing points exhibiting <300 μmol/(g catalyst) amount of eliminated ammonia in a temperature range between 100°C-800°C when ammonia is adsorbed to the catalyst and then the adsorbed ammonia is eliminated by heating.
