To provide a method for producing an N, N-dialkylthiourea compound industrially inexpensively and simply.
The acylthiourea compound of general formula (5) is produced by causing a thiocyanate compound of general formula (1) to react with a halogenated formic ester compound of general formula (3) in the presence of a heteroaromatic compound in an organic solvent having a solvent parameter (AN+DN) of at least 30 and subsequently causing the reaction product to react with a secondary amino compound of general formula (4). The acylthiourea compound is hydrolyzed under a basic condition to give the N, N-dialkylthiourea compound of general formula (6). General formula (1): MSCN. General formula (3): R5OCOX. General formula (4): HNR6R7. General formula (5): R5OCONHC(S)NR6R7. General formula (6): H2NC(S)NR6R7. In the formulae, R5 is a 1-6C alkyl group or the like; R6 and R7 are each a 1-6C alkyl group or the like; and X is a halogen atom.
