Abstract:
To provide a method for producing an alkane oxide that uses oxygen as an oxidizer at lower temperatures than in the conventional art.SOLUTION: A method for producing an alkane oxide includes the step of applying light, in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, to a reaction solution containing an alkane, an electron attractive group-bearing p-benzoquinone, a metal salt and water. The step has a reaction temperature that is 0°C or higher and lower than the boiling point of the solvent of the reaction solution. The metal salt includes a metal element that is at least one selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu. The wavelength band of the light includes the maximum absorption wavelength of the p-benzoquinone.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
