Abstract:
To provide a method for extracting and producing aloin from aloe sap or a derivative thereof.
The method for producing aloin comprises: extracting aloin from aloe-containing matter, particularly yellow sap of aloe or a derivative thereof, in the presence of aliphatic diol or triol having 15 or less carbon atoms on the carbon chain, e.g. glycerol or glycol; and crystallizing and purifying the aloin in alcohol. A method for industrial production of aloin is also provided, wherein recrystallization is carried out in the presence of 0.5-5 wt.% water based on the total weight of the medium.
