Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for amide production using an acid catalyst selected from silica-alumina that has marked catalytic activity, high selectivity substantially without deterioration and can be regenerated by heat treatment.
SOLUTION: In this process, an oxime is catalytically rearranged to the corresponding amide where an oxime in vapor phase is brought into contact with a catalyst selected from silica-alumina of medium-size pores that has a SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 20-1,000, an average pore diameter of 20-100 &angst and deep reflection exceeding 18 &angst spacing according the X-ray refraction pattern (XRD) observed in the fired powder (2θ<4.9°, CuKα radiation).
