Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a phenol in high selectivity and in high yield by hydrolyzing an aromatic halide in a vapor phase.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic halide is hydrolyzed in a vapor phase by using a mixture (e.g. CuO+Na-ZSM-5) prepared by blending a copper compound with a substantially nonacidic crystalline aluminosilicate as a catalyst to produce a phenol.
