Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a bibenzoimidazole compound suitable for industrial production.

The method for producing the bibenzoimidazole compound is characterized by reacting a phenylene diamine compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 and R2 are each H or a hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent; an arbitrary hydrogen atom on the phenylene group may be replaced by a substituent) with a diaryl oxalate represented by general formula (2) (wherein, Ar is aryl) in the presence of a carboxylic acid compound in an aromatic solvent.
