Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a carboxylic acid ester from an aldehyde by using a catalyst that has high activity and is readily prepared.
The method for producing a carboxylic acid ester comprises preoxidizing a gold supported catalyst used in producing a carboxylic acid ester by reacting an aldehyde with an alcohol in the presence of oxygen by using a metal-supported catalyst. A carboxylic acid ester is industrially advantageously produced by the method. The method is greatly significant for producing an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester which is much needed and is acceleratedly decomposed by any other method.
