Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a low-gel-content carboxymethyl cellulose salt.

The carboxymethyl cellulose salt is produced by the step of producing an alkali cellulose by reacting a cellulosic raw material with an alkali, the step of producing a carboxymethyl cellulose salt by reacting the alkali cellulose with a carboxymethyl etherifying agent, and the step of irradiating the carboxymethyl cellulose salt with electromagnetic waves at a frequency of 100 to 10,000 MHz.
