When the cellulose ester film is produced by a solution film- making method, in a drying process, at an optional point of time where the solvent content X (wt.%) of the cellulose ester film meets formula (1) of 17≤X≤24 (1), the application of tension in the width direction of the cellulose ester film is started, and a width expansion ratio is adjusted to be 1-4%. At an optional point of time where the solvent content X of the cellulose ester film meets formula (2) of 34≤X≤44 (2), the application of tension in the width direction of the cellulose ester film is started, and a width expansion ratio is adjusted to be 4-7%.
