Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a polymerizable thermoplastic cellulose ester without using any harmful reactant in good process stability compared to the well-known methods for producing cellulose solutions and such thermoplastic cellulose esters.

The objective method for producing a cellulose solution comprises treating, with a lithium chloride-containing dimethyl sulfoxide solvent, a cellulose whose degree of crystallinity has been lowered in advance. The other objective method for producing the thermoplastic cellulose ester comprises introducing ester groups into the cellulose dissolved by the former method.
