Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a method for producing a citrus essential oil efficiently even in a large scale without using a solvent and an additive, and to provide a citrus essential oil excellent in safety without a danger of "phototoxicity."SOLUTION: The present inventors found that, the essential oil can be recovered in a higher yield than before by crushing citrus skin after squeezing juice by a dry process and subsequently pulverizing by a wet process, followed by steam distillation, to complete the present invention. Further, when the fruit skin is frozen once, a recovery rate of the essential oil used to become extremely poor, but use of the method of the present invention enables recovery of the essential oil at the same or better level compared to raw citrus skin even in a large scale. In addition, the present invention can provide a product throughout the year, which is excellent in safety without a danger of "phototoxicity" warned for a general citrus essential oil.SELECTED DRAWING: None
