To provide a method for producing a compound metal oxide from stable and inexpensive chemicals without necessitating the high-temperature heat-treatment, the reaction in a non-aqueous atmosphere and the use of an organic solvent.
A compound selected from a chelating agent, a carboxylic acid and an amino acid is added together with ammonia water to the salts of metals constituting strontium bismuth niobate and reacted in an aqueous solution system to precipitate the water-soluble organic compounds of the constituent metals. An aqueous solution containing the water-soluble organic compounds is prepared, concentrated by heating and further heated to the decomposition temperature of the organic component to obtain a precursor. The objective compound metal oxide is produced by the heat-treatment of the precursor.
