To provide a method for producing a colorless and transparent condensation polymer having excellent optical characteristics, further high toughness and excellent thermal stability and moldability in combination.
The method for producing the condensation polymer is characterized as follows. The first polymerization for reacting a nitrogen-containing basic compound and a dihydric phenol and/or a dihydric alcohol and a carbonate and/or a divalent carboxylic acid and/or a divalent hetero acid satisfying formula (I) 2(a)>k(b)>2(c) formula (I) [wherein, (a) represents the molar number of the dihydric phenol and dihydric alcohol; (b) represents the molar number of the nitrogen-containing basic compound; (c) represents the molar number of the carbonate, divalent carboxylic acid and divalent hetero acid; and k represents the valence of the base of the nitrogen-containing basic compound, respectively] is carried out until the rate of reaction of the dihydric phenol and/or dihydric alcohol reaches ≥5 to <100%. After the first polymerization, the second polymerization for further reacting the basic compound to provide a higher molecular weight is conducted.
