To provide a method for producing cumene characterized by comprising efficiently converting unreacted cumene hydroperoxide into the objective cumene in a method for producing propylene oxide comprising converting propylene into the propylene oxide using as an oxygen carrier cumene hydroperoxide obtained from cumene while using the cumene repeatedly.
The method for producing cumene from a cumene hydroperoxide-containing cumyl alcohol comprises the steps described below: The cumene hydroperoxide hydrogenation step, which comprises converting cumene hydroperoxide contained in cumyl alcohol into cumyl alcohol in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The cumyl alcohol hydrogenation step, which comprises hydrogenating the cumyl alcohol obtained in the cumene hydroperoxide hydrogenation step to obtain the objective cumene.
