Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a dicarboxylic acid, capable of simply and effectively producing the dicarboxylic acid having carboxylic groups at both the ends, such as adipic acid, at a low cost.

This method for producing the dicarboxylic acid comprises dissolving or dispersing an aliphatic compound having a cycloalkane structure as a skeletal component in a ketone-based solvent, and irradiating the compound with the light of a wavelength of about 200-400 nm in the presence of oxygen to conduct ring opening and oxidation of the compound.
