Abstract:
To provide a method for recovering an active ingredient in a terephthalic acid-containing waste as dimethyl terephthalate to reduce the amount of formed waste and to improve the recovery as the terephthalic acid.
The method for recovering the dimethyl terephthalate involves subjecting the waste essentially comprising the terephthalic acid and an ester thereof to esterification reaction with methanol.
