The method for producing the asymmetric binuclear metal complex represented by general formula, (L1)2M1(BL)M2(L2)2(X)n, includes reacting a mononuclear metal complex represented by the formula, (L1)2M1Cl2, with a mononuclear metal complex represented by the formula, (BL)M2(L2)2, in the presence of a base including lithium.
