Abstract:

To provide a method of easily producing a dithiol compound in high yield.

A dithiol compound represented by general formula (4) or (5) is easily obtained in high yield by reacting a dihalogen compound with a thiourea compound in water or in a mixed solvent of water and a nonpolar solvent, and then, hydrolyzing an obtained isothiouronium salt in the presence of a base. In the formula: Y is a hetero atom and/or a 1-18C hydrocarbon group wherein a hetero atom or a ring structure is included; and R¹, R², R³ and R⁴ are the same or different respectively, each representing a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C straight or branched chain alkyl group.
