To provide a method for producing an electrooptical device where, when scribing is performed using laser light, damage caused by the laser light is hard to occur.
The invention refers to a production method with which a substrate 52 and a substrate 63 are joined and a liquid crystal display 33 is formed. In a first scribing stage, the substrate 52 is irradiated with laser light so as to form a modified part 57. In this stage, a data line driving circuit 39, a mounting terminal 40 and wiring 42a are arranged at a part of the place in the substrate 63 confronted with the part where the modified part 57 is formed in the substrate 52. Successively, in a joining stage, the substrate 52 and the substrate 63 are joined. In a second scribing stage, the substrate 52 and the substrate 63 are scribed. In a parting stage, the substrate 52 and the substrate 63 are parted.
