The method for producing the ethylene glycol includes using H-ZSM5-type zeolite as a solid acid catalyst to be brought into contact with the methanol in a process for producing the ethylene glycol by bringing the methanol containing the 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane into contact with the solid acid catalyst.
