Abstract:
To provide a method for producing foamable styrenic resin particles which enables easy production of a styrenic resin foam particle molding that has excellent flame retardancy and has small contents of styrene and benzene.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing formable styrenic resin particles containing a flame retardant and a foaming agent by a polymerization step. The polymerization step adds a styrenic monomer in which a flame retardant is dissolved in an aqueous medium, and performs suspension polymerization. The polymerization step uses an aliphatic peroxy ester type and/or an aliphatic peroxy ketal type first organic peroxide having a 10 hr half-life temperature of 65°C or higher and 90°C or lower, and a second organic peroxide having a 10 hr half-life temperature of higher than 90°C and 110°C or lower, as polymerization initiators. The flame retardant is a bromide of a styrene-butadiene-based copolymer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
