PURPOSE: To produce a food having fancy and complicate shape, easily, by extruding a food material continuously with an extruder, applying a groove to the circumference of the food material immediately after extrusion, and cutting and expanding the material.

CONSTITUTION: A cut-off cutter 3 and a groove-forming cutter 4 are placed opposite to the nozzle hole 2 of the extruder 1. A food material is charged through the hopper 15 into the cylinder 16 of the extruder, pressed and heated by the rotation of the screw 17 to effect the gelatinization, and extruded through the nozzle hole 2. Immediately after extrusion, the extruded food material 5 is applied with grooves 6, 6a at the circumference with the groove-forming cutter 4 and is cut off with the cut-off cutter 3. The separated food material 5 is expanded quickly to obtain the objective food P having fancy shape.
